How to Pick Out Good Sunglasses to Protect the Eyes ?

ADVERTISEMENTS
Choose sunglasses made from the right materials to insure adequate eye protection.

When purchasing sunglasses it is important that you purchase ones of good quality, otherwise you may be doing more damage to your eyes. Sunglasses made of cheap acrylic or triacetate may only block about 30% to 40% of UV rays from the sun. In order to insure that your eyes are protected, you should generally purchase lenses that are made from optical quality glass, or polycarbonate.

Instructions

  1. Select sunglasses that have UV protection. Usually sunglasses are tagged with "UV400" or "100% UV Protected." Although this can be a useful indicator, many cheap sunglasses often put these tags on their glasses as well. So purchase glasses from a reputable stores such as those that specialize in sunglasses or an optical store.
  2. Purchase sunglasses made from high quality polycarbonate or optical glass as these will protect 100% from UV rays. However bear in mind that light will get in from the sides and from above, which can also damage your eyes. To help prevent this, you can wear a hat. You can also look for wraparound sun glasses that start from the temple.
  3. Select polarized sunglasses. This will help reduce glare for activities like boating, driving or snow skiing.
  4. Choose photo chromatic sunglasses. This is useful if you wear prescription glasses. These have the capability to adjust to the UV rays of the sun. When you are indoors, the glasses are clear. When you walk out into the sun, the lenses will change and darken.
  5. Test to see if the sunglasses are easy to look through. Take the sunglasses and hold them at least half an arm's length from the body. Look at the objects through the sunglasses. If the objects are clear, then the sunglasses are good for the eyes. If the objects appeared to be blurred and deformed, the sunglasses aren't suitable for your eyes.
  6. Consider the color of the sunglasses. Sunglasses that are colored brown, gray or light green provide greater protection than glasses that are colored yellow, red or other colors.

Threading

ADVERTISEMENTS
Popular in Asian cultures and now gaining popularity worldwide, threading has pretty much taken the eyebrow grooming world by storm. The method is intriguingly simple; a cotton thread is pulled along unwanted hair in a twisting motion, to trap hair in a mini lasso and lift it right out of the follicle.

Threading has been hailed for its cleanliness, precision and permanent results. It's been sworn by people who say they have never been able to achieve the same results through tweeting. waxing or sugaring.

The downside to threading is that if  it's done incorrectly by an inexperienced threading professional, the hairs can break and re-growth will be faster.

That aside, this ancient art is no doubt the way forward for shapely eyebrows that last!

EMBROIDERY v.s TATTOOING

Embroidery

Compared to eyebrow tattooing, embroidery is quicker and less painful, while generating a more natural result. Special needles are used to penetrate the skin and thread in the color, ensuring it stays within the epidermis and dermis. This way, the depth of the needle prongs are restricted, reducing unnecessary damage and skin exfoliation.

Tattooing

Eyebrow tattooing became popular in the 1920s along with the pencil thin eyebrow and the advent of the silent film era. Once associated with the vain or fashionable. eyebrow tattooing is today a common procedure.

Who and Why

Eyebrow embroidery and tattooing are ideal for woman with over-plucked brows, gaps or scars where the hair hasn't grown back, suffering from hair loss and who want a more definite brow shape.

The benefits of both include:

  • Hassle free eye liner for those with contact lenses
  • Minimal make-up required
  • No eye liner smearing, especially for oily skin
  • Enhancement of pale and small eyes
  • Dramatic and more defined eyes.

YOUR BEST BROWS

ADVERTISEMENTS
Eyebrows are an important feature of the face because they give the face its shape and frame the facial features of eyes, nose, cheeks, mouth and chin. The eyebrows are one of the few facial features that can be shaped to enhance the beauty of the face.

To achieve the most flattering effect it is important to consider both face shape and eye types. The perfect eyebrow shape is closely related to the actual shape of the face. The basic eyebrow shape is also determined on the bone structure of the face. When it comes to brows, one size doesn't fit all. An elegantly shaped brow that suits your face will bring out yours best features while an unruly one will seem like caterpillars have found a nesting space on your face.

Square Face

Hilary Swank
Softness is the key for girls with this face shape. A rounder brow arch will soften the corners of the face and create less sharp angles. A defined sharp peak at the top of the brow will also make the brow appear stronger. However, be sure that the end of the brow isn't too pointed or else it will add another sharp line to the face.

The Tool  A brow pencil can create the appearance of fine brow hairs. Pick a shade that matches your hair exactly or is one shade light.

The Tip

  • Over- plucking occurs when you try too hard to copy someone else
  • Fill in whatever you have left with a soft eyebrow pencil, smudging the line
  • Try to grow everything back before you reach for the tweezers again.

Oval Face

Bros are more forgiving with oval faces but the best shape is one that follows the brow's natural line of the brow bone. Leave it slightly thick but well groomed. This is especially necessary if you have lush tresses. A more present brow will anchor and balance it out.

Jennifer Aniston
The Tool  Let a professional shape your brows the first time, and then maintain the shape by tweezing at home with good angled tweezers. Avoid needlepoint and square tweezers. The former can easily injure while the latter will shear the hair instead of plucking it from the roots, causing the appearance of ingrown hairs.

The Tip  Pointy brow arches are caused by the angle of your hair growth changing too sharply at the arch.

  • Fill in the gap under the eyebrow
  • Brush the hairs at the arches outward
  • Fix them in place with transparent mascara.

Heart- Shaoed Face

A strong arch and correct thickness is best for this face shape. Apply rounded brows, which are soft and feminine. Be careful not to go overboard or the brow's curviness will make your face look fuller. A low arch, round brow creates a natural look, while a high arch one adds length to a shorter heart face shape.

Reese Witherspoon
The tool  Clear mascara or brow gel is a great way to tame brows. It doesn't add heaviness with color and easily sets brows in place.

The Tip  A comma shape at the bottom happens when the hair at the base of the eyebrow grows upward, while the rest of the brow grows outward, forming a sharp angle that is difficult to smooth out.

  • Fill in the gap with a soft eyebrow pencil
  • Brush any upward-growing hairs diagonally to cover the angle
  • Fix them in place with transparent mascara.

Round Face

Opt for a brow shape that follows a straight line to the peak of the brow, creating more vertical lines. Keep the brow length as long as possible and create as high as you can. The wider the brow, the more skin it covers and the narrower the face appears. Downplay the roundness of the face by keeping the brow straight ans less curvy.

Kate Winslet
The Tool  Brow shaping brushes are indispensable. Brush the brows straight up and trim hairs that stick up past the brow line using small hair scissors. Brush the hair down and repeat the process.

The Tip  Asymmetrical plucking occurs if you are using a small mirror and don't take an overall look at your face while shaping your eyebrows.

  • Use a mirror large enough to see your entire face
  • Try to correct as much as you can with an eyebrow pencil
  • Only of this doesn't help should you pluck the thicker eyebrow.

Elongated Face

Apply straight horizontal lines that stop the eye moving up and down the face. A flat brow shape accomplishes this as the horizontal shape makes the face appear shorter and gives the illusion of width.

Sarah Jessica Parker
The Tool  Extend your grooming to your brows as well. Make sure each hair falls into place with a brow groomer and see what a big difference it makes to your peepers.

The Tip  If your brow color  lashes with your hair color, tint or bleach your eyebrows instead of dying the hair on your head. It's cheaper and easier.

Apply make up in 10 easy step

ADVERTISEMENTS

Put your best face forward armed with beauty secrets from cosmetics industry pros. These 10 simple makeup tips are sure to speed up your daily routine with head-turning gorgeous results.
 Things You'll Need:
  • Foundation
  • Mascara
  • Eye Shadow Brushes
  • Blush Brush
  • Face Powder
  • Blush
  • Waterproof Mascaras
  • Lipstick
  • Lip Gloss
  • Eye Shadow
Instructions

1. Apply a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation. Dot it on over any blemishes or under-eye circles and blend with your fingertips or a makeup sponge. If your concealer tends to cake, apply eye cream first.

2. Choose foundation that matches your skin tone exactly. Apply it in dots over the central part of your face, then blend it out with a makeup sponge or your fingertips until it covers your entire face

3. Use a loose or pressed powder to keep foundation and concealer on longer. Use pressed powder to touch up when you're away from home.

4. Do your eyebrows next. Use powdered eyebrow shadow on brows instead of pencil, which can often look unnatural. Apply it with a hard, slanted brush.

5. Choose three colors of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. Use the dark only to line your upper eyelid, in a fairly thin line along the upper lashes. Use the medium shade for the crease and the lightest shade for the area under the eyebrow. There are many variations on eye shadow application techniques.

6. Apply eyeliner. Use a cake eyeliner with a damp, thin liner brush, or an eyeliner pencil, and line the lower lid below the lashes. Line only the outer two-thirds of the lower lid, or all the way across if you're trying to achieve a darker look. Line all the way across the upper lid (just above the lash line and as close to the lashes as possible), or start the line where your lashes begin.

7. Apply mascara to upper and lower lashes, in two thin coats to avoid clumpiness. Choose brown mascara if your coloring is fair; black or brown-black works well for darker coloring. Or try a colored mascara such as navy or plum for fun, but don't go too bright if you want to be taken seriously

8. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks, and apply blush to the apples or below, whichever you prefer. If you have to blend in blush, it's too bright.

9. Choose a lipstick color that's suited to your skin tone and that's perfect for your day look. You can mix colors and textures to suit your moods and your outfits

10. Line lips after applying lipstick, not before. That way you won't end up with a dark circle of lip liner after your lipstick has worn off. Avoid combining very dark lip liner and pale lipstick.

Do eyelashes grow back?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Eyelashes can be lost when mascara is applied or when an eyelash curler is used, or they may simply fall out. Like any hairs, it is normal for eyelashes to fall out and to then be replaced by other hairs growing in their places. However, eyelashes do have cycles that are different from the cycles of scalp hairs.

Significance

  • Eyelashes are an important safety system for the eyes. They keep dust from falling into the eye. They also alert the eye that something is moving toward it before it actually gets there, allowing the eye time to close. This makes it important to retain eyelashes if possible. But aside from their practical use, eyelashes are also esteemed as an attractive part of the face.

  • Function

  • All human hairs go through three stages during their growth and development. One stage is anagen. This is the active, growing phase. For eyelashes, this phase lasts 30 to 45 days. Eyelashes are short because this phase is far shorter than the two- to six-year growth phase of scalp hairs. During this phase, the hair will keep growing and will not fall out unless pulled, plucked or otherwise forced out.

  • Identification

  • Another phase of hair growth is the catagen phase. This phase is a stage of transition. An eyelash in this phase is no longer growing. The sheath of the outer root of the eyelash shrinks during this phase and attaches itself to the hair's root. The follicle is not making hair during this phase. If the eyelash falls out during the two to three weeks of this phase, it will not grow back until after the follicle's catagen phase is over.

  • Features

  • The phase in which most hairs, including eyelashes, fall out is the telogen phase. This is the hair's resting phase. A hair in this phase will rest for about 100 days before eventually falling out. Tugging gently on an eyelash that is in this phase may result in it coming out sooner than it would have on its own. Losing an eyelash during this phase means that new eyelashes will grow in faster because the growth cycle of the hair was not interrupted.

  • Time Frame

  • Pulling out eyelashes or plucking them means that the eyelashes that were in the active growth or transitional phases will not be equipped to start new growth as quickly as one that was lost naturally at the end of its resting stage. But, no matter what phase the eyelash is lost in, it will eventually grow back. It can take weeks or months before you have a new eyelash, depending on when it was lost.

How To Get Smokey Eyes ?

    ADVERTISEMENTS
Smokey eyes have been a big style for quite awhile and there's no sign this particular trend is dying. Here we show you step-by-step instructions on how to get the perfect smokey eye.

The key to the perfect smokey eye is proper blending. You want to make sure colors are blended together flawlessly. Also, it's important to pair light base colors with rich dark colors. Nice mixes include: Soft gold base with deep purple on top, champagne base with bright blue and peach base with green hue.

    Difficulty: Average
    Time Required: 10 minutes

    Here's How:

    1. Prep the lid. The key to keeping eyeshadow from melting into your eyelid crease as the day goes on is to kept eyelids oil-free. To do this start with an eyeshadow base (also called "primer"). Simply swipe the primer across the eye and let it dry before you continue to the next step.
    2. Apply eyeliner. If you're going for a typical black, brown or gray smoky eye, apply liner in one of those colors above the upper lash line, drawing line thicker in the middle of eye. If you're opting for a jewel-toned eye (violet makes a gorgeous smokey eye), line eyes with a purple, blue or deep green liner.
    3. Blend in color on bottom lashes For color on the bottom (a key smokey eye look) you'll want to use a eyeliner pencil because they're easiest to smudge. Once the line is drawn, run your finger over it to smudge the line. You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.
    4. Apply light base color Again, the key to a smokey eye is pairing a lighter base with the darker hue. I prefer a nice cream shade for my base. Sweep a light, shimmery shadow over the lids to your browbone.
    5. Blend in darker color, but keep dark color below the crease. Now that you have the base and eyeliner on, it's time to get the smokey effect. You need a darker eyeshadow shade. Using an eys shadow brush blend in color starting at your lash line, blending up. Make sure to blend color into the lash line so the eye liner disappears. Stop deep color at crease. The key here is to blend, blend, blend.
    6. Doublecheck your work Make sure eyes match.
    7. Finish with several coats of mascara. You'll want to apply a few coats of mascara so lashes are thick and dark. If you don't have naturally long, curled lashes, curl them with a lash curler first.

    Tips:

    1. Remember to keep lips nude. When applying strong makeup (like smokey eyes or red lips) put the focus on either eyes or lips, never both. If you do so you will look like a clown...
    2. Liner doesn't have to come in pencil form. Makeup experts know eyeshadows make some of the best eyeliners. To do this take an eyeliner brush (available at Sephora, MAC or any dept store), wet it, then dab wet brush into the dark shadow. This allows for a deep, precise line. You can also use the dark shadows without wetting brush first. Either way, eyeliner is necessary for smoky eye.
Here are some samples of smokey eyes..

Smokey eyes can be apply to dinner, outing, prom, parties, or even office.... This type of color mixure is much easier to match with the clothes that you wear.. As you know black can be easily go with any color.. Hope you have a clearer idea on how to work on this smokey eyes..
